Cluny Hill GCB Project

Project Overview

The residence features a cohesive aesthetic across diverse functional zones, from a high-performance kitchen to a dedicated home theater.

  • Public Spaces: The living and kitchen areas utilize a neutral palette of warm whites and greys, grounded by classic herringbone wood flooring.
  • Private Quarters: Bedrooms and home offices maintain the minimalist theme with floor-to-ceiling custom carpentry and hidden storage solutions.
  • Entertainment & Wellness: The home includes specialized luxury zones, such as a dark-themed private cinema with a “starry night” ceiling and a spa-like master bathroom featuring a freestanding soaking tub and curved tile work.
  • Outdoor Integration: The exterior architecture uses bold, vertical wood louvers and expansive glass doors to bridge the gap between the lush outdoor greenery and the interior living spaces.

What Makes This GCB Design Special

Architectural Curves & Fluidity

  • A standout element is the use of soft, curved geometry to break the rigidity of modern lines.

  • Curved Island & Walls: The kitchen island features a prominent rounded end, a motif mirrored in curved interior walls and rounded bathroom mirrors.

  • Fluted Textures: Vertical "ribbed" or fluted paneling is applied to the kitchen island base and the living room TV console, adding tactile depth and a dynamic play of light and shadow.

Advanced Indirect Lighting

  • Cove & Strip Lighting: Warm LED strips are hidden within ceiling trays, under kitchen cabinets, and behind office shelving to create a "floating" effect for the furniture.

  • Atmospheric Accents: The home theater features integrated floor-level "step" lighting and a fiber-optic ceiling to mimic a night sky.

Material Sophistication & Integration

  • High-Contrast Finishes: The design balances soft wood grains with bold, white marble-look surfaces featuring heavy grey veining.

  • Flush Carpentry: All major appliances, such as the refrigerator and laundry units, are perfectly recessed into custom cabinetry to maintain a completely "flush" and uninterrupted visual line.

  • Concealed Hardware: Many cabinets use integrated finger pulls or handle-less designs, emphasizing the focus on the raw beauty of the materials like the vertical-grain wood.

Climate Control & Ventilation (Functional Luxury)

  • Sun Shading: They block direct solar heat gain before it hits the glass, keeping the interior significantly cooler without relying solely on air conditioning.

  • Airflow: Unlike a solid wall, the gaps between the slats allow breezes to pass through, promoting natural ventilation even when the screens are closed for
